Today marks 105 years since the end of World War I.
“The torch be yours to hold on high. If ye break faith with us who die, we shall not sleep though poppies grow in Flanders’ fields.”
Lest we forget:
Vimy Ridge was a defining moment in our nation’s history.
World War II:
This is the account of Edna Jaques, at home in Canada on D-day: “Thousands of people jammed the churches. I went to St. Andrews, and sat quietly with the rest of them, each one just sitting there, everyone praying, wiping the tears away, not saying a word. We all seemed one; humanity, I guess you would call it, united, in an overwhelming prayer that somehow, some way peace would come.”
Carried by the prayers of the thousands at home, Canadian troops advanced further than the other allied nations on D-day.
Canada needs that kind of prayer today.
